This is not exactly an Aesop ’s Tale … … but it does have a lesson .
Many year ago when I was first getting establish in the catering business organization I was asked to provide breakfast and tiffin over a ten - mean solar day period for about 30 horse farm workers .
These suitable souls were working for one farm during the Keeneland sawbuck sales here in Lexington , Ky. ; the idea behind the catered meals was that they would n’t have to get out their posts in search of solid food ; and they ’d be around when possible clients might look want a Equus caballus showing .
The Work — Hard Work!Both repast had to be deliver on metre , piping hot and then place up , the previous one being clear away at the same time . It was all very crude and the “ staging ” region was merely a barn with a table . My catering “ corporation ” comprised just me and a unforced friend that I devote – when I could !

Still , I ’ve never been able to compromise my merchandise or my armed service , so we gave them our in effect and did our proficient .
At the clip I buoy myself up with the hope that through our starring elbow grease we would get noticed and secure extra clientele from this prestigious cavalry farm . In particular , from the owners who harbor regularly and had two daughters of marrying age who would sure as shooting be good for a couple of lush weddings ! !
My mistake with this thinking was that when it came metre to throw these parties it never pass off to the farm proprietor to use the same caterer who had fed his static hands !
The Happy Ending!However , there is a felicitous ending and one that goes to prove severe employment really does devote off .
Several years later , the farm manager of the original farm changed jobs and went to superintend farms belonging to the Maktoum folk – the wealthy , influential and much well-thought-of rule dynasty of Dubai .
He remembered me and I have enjoyed the reward and challenge of this farm ’s accounting for over 20 years !
