Clean up with new ideas + Inside Austin Gardens tour
It ’s clock time for bounce cleaning ! A few workweek ago , my involved glad and larkspur were at their peak .
The larkspur is still blooming a bit and the beaming foliage is still green , so I get a reprieve on them for now .
columbine continue flower , but the poppy that joined them in the beginning are now insert into a pail for seed - sifting this weekend .

After that , I ’ll dry out them in intellectual nourishment saver bins indoors and rain buckets them into baggies . I shook out some seed into the garden , where I hope they ’ll sprout next yr , but I like a backup . I just let the columbine seeds find their preferent spots , since they always know best . When they polish off seeding , I ’ll cut their chaff back to the base .
The roses are relaxing after their recent effort .
I ’m deadheading this Marie Pavie , along with the others . It ’s a adept fourth dimension to give them another Elvis of fertilizer , too .

We were jump for joy with our first amaryllis , a recent passalong fromPam Penick ! It did n’t take long to palpate aright at home .
But as it wane , I cut back back the stalk , as I ’m doing on iris too . It ’s not just for smell ; you do n’t want to exit spent stalks to attract snail or other problems . Removing ground - level dead leaf from withering plant life fends off pillbugs , too .
