DIY Owls Made From Cardboard Boxes
I first found this project in a magazine article when I was around 7 years previous ( a longsighted time ago ! ) when owl were all the rage in crafts and interior decoration . And now they ’re popular again , belike spurred on by the popularity of Harry Potter Good Book .
I ’ve notice lots of owl on Etsy and Pinterest recently and decide to create a really loose version that both nestling and grownup can make . Just check that an adult handlesthe het up glue dispenser(if you use one ) .
The materials are all house item , making it entirely recycled with the exception of the glue .

Once you ’ve mastered the basic owl , you may go on to beautify it to look like any type of owl you like . But for starter , we ’ll do the gratifying and elementary owls .
Overview of Steps
1 . Cut out the composition board strips ( see sizes listed in Materials leaning below ) and backstage .
2 . unclothe off one newspaper publisher side of the box seat to expose the corrugated subdivision inwardly .
3 . Roll up each piece of cardboard to get a nice rounded roll before apply mucilage .

4 . lend oneself a cable of glue down the inside in-between length of each cardboard piece , roll up snugly , hold closed with flexible bands while glue is drying .

Steps
Pleaseread all of the steps first – there ’s sometipsyou’ll want to lie with onwards of time .
1.Cut open one niche of each composition board boxso the cardboard lays flat . turn out out the cardboard strips(see sizes listed inMaterialslist above ) .
And cut out the wings : first cut the rectangular sizes list , then place the two pieces awry side together ( corrugated cardboard face out ) , and cut out wing shapes like the one in my marvelous illustration ( right ) .

2.Peel off the PRINTED side of the composition board . If there is no printed side , just peel whichever side you want .
If the sides do n’t peel off totally , just make the ridges of the corrugated composition board with the crest of your scissors grip . The spotty grain will expect honest . Trust me .
I demonstrated this with big pieces of composition board , but yours will already be cut to size : this makes it easier to peel them .

3.Before you initiate glue and assembling your owl , take the time toroll up each piece of cardboard and form nice rounded cylinderswith the cardboard . This will make it easy for the next pace .
You ’ve just pre - rolled the cardboard strips , now you want to open them flat , one at a clock time , and apply the mucilage .
Make certain the cardboard that will stop up visible on the outer roll of each cylinder looks good .

Take note of which ending of each strip of composition board will be the inside middle – that ’s where you ’ll start gluing and rolling — the same path you rove up a sleeping travelling bag .
4.Apply a line of glue down the mediate eye length of each composition board piece , working in accomplishable sections . twine up the cardboard snugly , have closed with elastic ring while glue is drying . I ’m using a thermionic tube of silicone in the picture but I establish a heated gum dispenser work quicker .

If you ’d like your owl to have a rounded belly , push the nerve centre of the piston chamber out slenderly before the glue dries ( as register below ) .
5.Make the neb .
6.Nextglue the rolled beak piece onto the trunk . I sum up mine where the composition board roll ended on the body ( to hide it ) .

You ’re done !
