Usually in Maryland as Memorial Day approaches , I have jolly much put in Lycopersicon esculentum , black pepper , cucumber , squash and basil , temps are in the LXX and 80 and I ’m wearing summertime clothes . Not so this spring ! It has been rainy and downright insensate – my peppers and tomatoes are out there in a moue – and I ’m wear foresighted sleeve , hoodie , sock and the boot !
In my geographical zone 7 garden , our last frost date has been moved to May 1 and usually it is good to constitute out the lovesome weather crops by then . Tomatoes , peppers and basil just sit and sulk in 50 degree atmospheric condition – they like it best with blistering sunny days and nights in the 70s . I ’ve been expect to transplant them – I have well over 75 chile peppers ( remember Capsicum is Herb of the Year for 2016 and I am celebrating them bigtime!)–and they are carry in the stale frame now for weeks . They have changed from undimmed green , healthy and stout to a lighter yellow greens and they are loll a bit . I keep yield them ginger talks to just pay heed on – it will soon be summer . ( I find myself unconsciously humming “ Here do the Sun ” lately . )

The dry land is so concentrated from all of the springiness rain , that it is best to stay out of the garden . Walking in the wet garden compress the soil and spread out disease . However , I do bask take the air around the G and woods everyday to observe the day-to-day change in plants . Some seem to grow in leaps and bounds overnight .
Weeds and many of the more prolific herbs are grow like gangbusters as you may see in the pic . genus Allium like ail and onion like the cool weather , as do the potatoes . This is utter atmospheric condition for garden greens and the salad layer is honking . We have leafy green salads just about every Nox and they are so fresh and tender and delicious that they barely need dressing .
Today we celebrate the Full Flower moon . Happy spring wherever you are ! How does your garden farm ?
