This species is native toMexico . It grows on shady rock drop in Michoacán at 3,940 metrical unit ( 1,200 m ) above sea level . Graptopetalum pentandrumwas described by Reid Moran in 1971 from cloth obtained by Myron Kimnach and Fred Boutin purchased in January 1970 at a nursery in Guadalajara in Jalisco from unknown provenance . In May 1973 , Alfred B. Lau found the first wild universe at El Salto , a waterfall 4 kilometre northwards of Aguililla in Michoacan .

Graptopetalum pentandrumis a succulent shrublet that spring rosette of fleshy , point leaves at the ends of dull green , strongly woody stems branch principally from the fundament .
