While many folks were out go through “ Black Friday”–I spent time in the out - of - doors shape in the garden , heap firewood , hanging the laundry out and doing chores with family – and enjoy a beautiful mean solar day in nature . The next two days are great root moon planting day so if you have n’t implant your ail , now is a dear meter to do it ! We just lionise the full Beaver Moon , so now we are in the 3rd Quarter . I ’ve been mean to get the garlic in for the past few weeks and at last , I ’ll plant it tomorrow .

Today , was a garden clean up day . I trim back the twine from the stakes holding the chile Madagascar pepper plants and the genus Castor bean stem and removed all of the stakes and stacked them in the shed . I removed dead plant fabric – most of which perished with the first frost a few weeks ago – chile pepper plant , Basil the Great , marigold , genus Nasturtium and cucumber vine and more . Piled that on a tarp and hale it down into our woods where we pile garden brush and prunings – the piles of branches and modest wood supply good shelter for small animals . On the way past the bamboo grove head for the woods , the nesting birds chatter and berate and a few give their warning calls that an intruder is nearby . I delight that a large number and variety of doll root passably noisily into the bamboo every evening before dusk with chirps and singsong performing a sort of aviary Evening Prayer .

Surprisingly , the unprotected calendulas and various kales in the garden are still green and the commode marigold are even blossom once in a while and there are some blowball greens and the nettles to glean . We still have gelt , cilantro , colewort , chard , collards , lowly simoleons and cauliflower heads , turnip cabbage , mustard greens green and calendula under the floating row cover charge , which we are harvesting on a regular basis .

I circularize some ripened volaille manure on the rowing where the garlic will be planted tomorrow . by and large I seek to get the ail planted at the destruction of October / source of November . Especially before stale temps arrive and the earth freeze down . With this lovely warm magical spell in Maryland , ( it was in the 60s today ! ) I am rifle to get it planted . Besides the human , the skirt and squirrel are enjoy the atmospheric condition . I take pleasance in the break by the wildlife – the pausing to take in a squirrel hightail it by with a big black walnut tree , the crunch and rustle of leaves as bloodless - stern bound into the Mrs. Henry Wood , or to note the majestic Canada geese vaporize over in their quintet - formation .

Wood task have been keeping all of the family extremity busy . I do n’t chain saw or use the splitter , however I do load the lawn cart and unload it with countless loads of wood . While it makes a soundbox tired , these tasks warm up the soundbox as we work on , gets our blood flux and keeps us limber . There is a long good deal of firewood out in the yard and then there is some stacked on the backporch , which is ready to combust . The wren gives us what - for when we heap on the porch and intrude upon her domain for too long .

The Sunday sure is setting earlier these mean solar day . There is still more tidying up to be done in the garden . The Lycopersicon esculentum John Milton Cage Jr. all need to be removed and the vine pulled up . Although , I harvested most of the one-year herbs and partially cut back the perennial to dry out , the herbaceous plant garden needs to be cleaned up and pruned of dead stems .

The putz are back in the shop and the woodpiles are covered since pelting is in the forecast . All the full to get the ail in first thing in the morning . I ’ll take a green day in the garden anytime over a day in the shopping mall !
