So what is it really like to live our life in a teardrop camper ?

That seems to be the doubt we get the most now .

From both our family and friend , and a few hundred email to the blog since leaving on September 9th for our one twelvemonth , 50 commonwealth tour .

So we thought with two calendar week under our belts , today ’s Sunday farm update would be the perfect metre to partake in a little behind the aspect attend at life on the road .

And , what it ’s like to go from live in our 1054 square foot home on the farm , to just under 140 straight feet in our Modern home base for a year , our T@B 400 teardrop camping bus .

The truth is the first few workweek on our trip-up have been nothing short of unbelievable .

And both of us agree 100 percent we would n’t trade the freedom of what we are grow to experience for any will power in the world . Hence the name : Live Simple Tour

But that does n’t have in mind there have n’t been challenge to overcome . Or that we have n’t had a few tight calls and scary minute .

And of course , a few multiplication when we could n’t do anything but jest .

So with that said , here is a “ behind the picture look ” at the the goodness , the challenging , and the hilarious of traveling the country so far in our teardrop motor home .

Life In A Teardrop Camper…

The Good

As for the trade good , we honestly could both go on all day . ( you may see each Clarence Shepard Day Jr. ’s wrapper up here : ( Living Simple Tour Day By Day )

This trip-up has made us realize how important it is to do things while you may . To take chances . To take experiences over possessions .

Every day on the road , we meet more than one person who says to travel the country is their dream . And our result is always the same : Do n’t hold back for someday , do it while you may !

I asked an older man for his secrets to life-time in a footling coffee workshop in North Pointe , Nebrasksa . It is a question we hear to ask often to folk everywhere we go .

We love to learn from everyone . And the conversation and responses we get back are sometimes awful . His answer is now one of my personal all - time darling .

He said : ” So many people always apply the terminus “ You only experience once . ” But heck , I say “ You only go once , ” so you advantageously get doing what you want to do , because you never know when that might happen !

Adjusting To Life In The Camper

As for the camper , our T@B 400 Teardrop has been unflawed so far .

It has been so well-situated to draw in with the motortruck that sometimes we almost bury it ’s back there . And at just 18 1/2′ long , it fit into a pot of tight spaces and campground that larges RV ’s just ca n’t .

And honestly , it has everything we demand and nothing more . I think that is what we love most about it .

I can also say that both of us have never slept well than the last two weeks . The queen size of it bottom is amazingly prosperous . Although I am sure all of our day-by-day activities and change of location avail as well to jade us out .

But if I had to put my finger on the best of the best , it has been the unbelievable freedom of not being tied down by too many things or possessions .

It ’s funny , but when you backpack for a workweek at a campground , or a weekend get - a - away – you endeavor to bring everything . All the food you will need , all of the clothes .

But we could n’t do that . food for thought wo n’t last . And we do n’t have the space for too much clothing . And frankly , it has been unbelievable not to have all of that “ stuff . ” Or more importantly , not to have to take caution of it all .

The Challenging

So enough of the happy - silly . Yes , there have been some challenges to get over .

Every individual experienced camper told us the undermentioned advice : Do n’t ever go by a restroom or a flatulency station . And perhaps we should have heed .

Probably the scariest second so far was the trip from Scotts Bluff , Nebraska to Rapid City , South Dakota .

must do garden chores

As we pulled out last Sunday morning with over half a tankful , we both thought for sure we would happen a gas place somewhere along the way to top off .

Gas was a bit more expensive in Scott ’s Bluff than we had been pay , so we decided to fill up out of town on the means . BAD DECISION !

Within an hour out of town , we lose all cell service . And there were no gas stations , or towns , or houses for that matter in sight anywhere !

must do garden chores

With 6 miles to part with we coast into Crawford , South Dakota and fueled up . Never again . Absolutely never again !

The only other challenge has been food . We are used to a stocked buttery at the farm . And with small way or long - full term storage power , we have learned to adapt by sustain to terminate for bracing supplies every few day .

Right now , on this fate of the misstep , the towns and grocery stores have been few and far between .

But to turn what could be a negative into a positive , we have had sport with it . We have made some pretty originative “ fresh ” meals in the camper .

The Hilarious Moments Of Life In A Teardrop Camper

We are learn a lot . And having fun in the outgrowth .

The motor home has flock of pass way . Plenty . But not when you allow the upper cupboard doors opened . I have made up amazing newfangled words each time I leave to close them , and then hit them .

possess people ask us if that is “ us ” on the motor home as we stand outside of it is always a hoot as well . I usually respond “ only when we have showered . ”

We have had some incredibly self - induced suspicious moments so far .

Like : the sewer communication channel sacking valve should not be pulled until Mary has it completely in the bait up . risky decision again , but we are get word quickly !

Learning A Valuable Lesson – Less Is Always More

Here is one matter we have learned quickly in two weeks : Every day is what you make of it and the attitude you bring to it .

We have loved meeting new citizenry , seeing fresh places , and simply enjoying it all . When you opt to make a day great with a electropositive attitude and an open mind , it turn out big .
