Today we ’re revisiting Brenda Addington ’s garden in Suwanee , Georgia . Yesterday we saw the bolder side of her bulb plantings , in red and Narcissus pseudonarcissus - yellows . Today we see the soft side in shades of pink , including my personal preferent tulip of all prison term , ‘ Angelique ’ . It ’s like a hybrid between a pale pink tulip and a toothsome white peony ! Heaven .
In case you miss what Brenda said yesterday , here it is again:“This retiring December , I planted some 3,000 + bulb , mainly tulip , hyacinths , and daffodils , in my garden . Since I live in the south in Zone 7b , I care for many of my tulips as annual for have an plosion of vibrant blooms in the spring . Having planted over 2,000 tulips in December 2010 , hand - trowel I might add , I resolve to use an auger this time . Wow ! What a difference it made . I saved a mickle of time , finishing most of my electric-light bulb planting in just two days . Also , my back and hamstrings emphatically benefit from the habit of the gimlet .
“ It ’s been an early ‘ Spring Fever ’ here for the last few weeks . much earlier than normal due to our very strong temperatures this spring . I ’ve been savour the splendour and colour of my bulbs due to all of my hard piece of work . Even though the gain of bound bulbs in my landscape is short survive , it is indeed striking when they are in full blush ! ”
