SixOnSaturday

Nearly the end of April , downhill till Summer now . My garden is responding sky-high to the lovesome sun we have had in such abundance the last few weeks . I have roses in flower , even a sweet pea blooming or two . With that comes summer levels of lacrimation , which is handy as I ’m about more than usual and able-bodied to do it . It will become a pain though , so I need to make real my big plans for irrigation . It will cost me a few hundred quid I conceive , but countenance ’s call that a saving as I wo n’t be buy a rail season ticket this month , and besides , it should last for years and cerebrate of the person - years of watering fourth dimension I ’ll save . How easily we justify garden spending ! Time for Six on Saturday . Six things , in the garden , on a Saturday . Could be anything , a flower , an interesting folio , a tool , a project to do , a succeeder , a bankruptcy , anything at all . Join in !

Here are my Six for this hebdomad .

1 – genus Geum ‘ Flames of Passion ’ . I call in remarking last class that this was a rather ostentatious name , but still . I move this plant life last week , just a twosome of feet , it was in danger of being inundate . I have an unfortunate tendency to pay scant attention to the receive planting distances . This pays dividends in the short condition , but does eventually ensue in overcrowding .

2 – Tiarella , maybe pinkish Skyrocket . I do n’t know where this came from , I must have buy it in an end of season hysteria last yr . I plant it in the recently expand shady border where it seems very glad indeed . I have another which I ’ve had for a while which look pretty anemic in comparing .

3 – Tomato food for thought . I was fretting about not having any liquid provender , and after last year ’s experience of frequently forgetting to tip them , I wondered if there was such a matter as slow release food for love apple . Course there is ! One provender is good for the whole season it enunciate in big letters . What is n’t readable until you get close enough to read the small letters , each flora needs 5 or 6 of these provender clusters , so I probably have n’t bribe enough . Curses .

4 – Canna you think it ? Two canna plants that I develop from source last year but never get around to planting out . They have skulk on the vacant veg plot of ground in their pots . They are bestirred , probably because I have been able to irrigate them enough , see above . In a parallel universe where I have the room , I ’ll plant them out soon .

5 – Tulip ‘ Angelique ’ . A peony character , they are quite blousy but in a good way . I like them , and I pull together they are fairly recurrent . When they are done flowering I mean to turf them out of here and set them out in the garden .

6 – Rose Dr Eckener . The eventide before this was a tightly twine bud , but keen as mustard greens is Dr Eckener , out he add up . It ’s a rugosa character , so the flower is quite capable , and the fragrance is mild , a tight sniff is call for , very nice though . I expect once a few more flowers are receptive the niff will be more detectable .

I will be out in the garden for large chunks of this weekend , more good weather for the next few day at least . Last weekend I found myself in reality sit down down in the deckchair and reposeful . This is not on . Must try harder .

Do check in later on on as newfangled links are added during the day .

Stay secure , I ’ll be back next weekend for another # SixOnSaturday
