Showstoppers in the perennial garden
Today we ’re claver with Lil Holloway in Bedford , Massachusetts , looking back at warm and more flowery time in the garden .
When I look out the window at this time of class , it ’s rather bleak . That ’s when I deplume up my exposure and think how beautiful the gardens were in the outflow and summer . I often wonder if they will be that adorable next time of year . I am never disappoint , even though each season come in with its own surprises . A snapshot in time is what you see . Each season I learn something new that makes me a better gardener , and each season I wonder at the beauty that beleaguer us .
This is a purview of half my perennial garden , which includes catmint(Nepeta× faassenii , Zones 3–8),Siberian iris(Iris sibericahybrids , Zones 3–8 ) , andJapanese iris(Iris ensata , Zones 4–9 ) , lots of daylilies(Hemerocallishybrids , Zones 3–9 ) , and Asiatic lilies(Liliumhybrid , Asian mathematical group , Zones 4–9 ) , coneflowers(Echinaceaspecies and hybrids , Zones 3–8 ) , and a honeysuckle(Lonicerasp.).This garden is edged with rose . The prominent pink arise on the right is one of three ‘ Clair Matin ’ , a French uprise . They are very disease resistant and have been in for 24 years .

Another view of the perennial garden . Every year is a surprisal , and every class I severalize myself that there will be no novel planting . Not once have I been successful in maintain that hope to myself !
Yet another prospect of the perennial garden . The paeony was late blooming . The yellow rose on the white trellis is David Austin ’s ‘ The Pilgrim ’ .
I call this part of the garden “ The Patch . ” It is station I move flora to if they have outlive their stay in the grownup perennial garden . It includes lots of iris , coneflower , roses , and a beautiful clematis that was a giving . The clematis , a double light purple , was unfortunately not in blossom as it mount up the tree in this photo .

It is so backbreaking to pick and choose which pictures to share , but I did n’t want to forget my Asiatic lilies . The voles got to them a couple of years ago , so I am missing many , but they are still beautiful . ( Learn how to get rid of voles in your garden . )
More Asiatic lily . you could see a perennial geranium in the desktop that has been there for year . My husband put in this brick walkway for me , and it for certain cut down on the weeding .
This doubleclematiswas a endowment from a stock breeder , and I do n’t know what she is . I put her on atrellisby the tree in The Patch . I was n’t expecting much from her . wacky me — she ’s gorgeous !

Tomorrow we ’ll return to Lil ’s garden to take in her beautiful accumulation of blush wine .
