It was unruffled on the blog front last week , and for good reason — I found myself in the midsection of the woods in Washington , near the base of Mount Rainier , with no wifi or data service in the small cabin my friends and I had rented for the week .
Though I had n’t plan on being disconnected , one week of a little less engineering was much welcomed . And I was n’t full off the grid , anyhow ; I was still able-bodied to post photos from the one place Ididhave 4 G which , ironically , was on top of a 6,800 - pes mass .

In other news … Have you heard about the proletariat disputes at all the West Coast larboard ? If you ’ve been waiting for furniture to arrive or your new car to drop or ( hem ) thousands of book to make their way to distributors , the coupling strife has been a red-hot issue all winter .
I can actually see the country ’s largest port from my menage , making the current land of affair feel ( literally ) close to home . The twin port of Los Angeles and Long Beach alone palm 40 pct of our incoming container cargo , and for the retiring few months , dozens of vessels have been ground at the dock , waiting to unload , with dozens more idling at sea , waiting to rive in . The port over-crowding is surreal considering a single ship can span over a thousand foot long .

Why am I telling you all this ? It just so happens thatThe CSA Cookbookis currently sitting on a ship at the Port of Oakland with no ETA on when the container will drop off . We ’re told the dispute should adjudicate any day now , but that merely have in mind our book cargo will be in line along with thousands of other containers .
This threw a lilliputian wrench in the plans for mybook sign language in Seattlelast weekend , but on the upside , I was able to signalize limited - run ARCs ( only 90 were printed ) for people who could n’t wait for their preorders to go far . ( Much well than a bookplate , I ’d say ! ) With my book still week aside from going , it was actually pretty keen to see it in the hands of fellow gardeners and Garden Betty readers long before it hits stores .
Though I only spent a couple of 60 minutes each day sign language leger , I have to say they were the highlight of my whole weekend . I ’m so used to interact with lecturer online that at last meeting some of you face to face , plight in actual - prison term conversations about gardening , cookery , tramp , skiing , and route - tripping , was such a playfulness and wonderful experience . It had me totally amped , guess about myupcoming book tour(which is still in the very long and logistical planning phase ) and wishing I had a whole surplus calendar month to cross the rural area this fountain so I can gather as many readers in as many place as possible !
While that is n’t quite feasible , I still hope to present at a motley of blog- or book of account - related events this year .
